Due to the overwhelming success of the recent musical audio tour, the Highlights of the Groninger Museum’s Collection exhibition will also be accompanied by one. While viewing the exhibition, visitors can listen to songs on a media player, that were composed especially for works of art from the Groningen Museum Collection.
The Groninger Museum sought out artists who are passionate about the relationship between art and music and who have the same mentality in their work as the Groninger Museum: thought-provoking and inviting opinion. Both international and local artists, well-known groups and musicians, and unknown rising talent were invited to write music. Emily Jane White, Flux, Goslink and many other bands and singer-songwriters agreed to participate.
Tasters of the new songs will soon be available on the Museum Myspace page.
Many of the recording artists who wrote a song for the musical audio tour will perform in the Groninger Museum. The first free show will be by Emily Jane White and You Are Plural (Jen Grady and Ephriam Nagler) on 16 December at 6 PM in the new Museum Restaurant. Also jot down in your diary: 8 January - Goslink - Groninger Museum. The rest of the line-up will follow shortly.
The Groninger Museum has recently extended its activities to Myspace with a new online channel to showcase music the Groninger Museum is involved with. The Museum Myspace page features all the songs composed for the musical audio tour last summer, inspired by work from the Museum Collection, including songs by bands like Fixkes, Audiotransparent and The Great Park. Previously only to be heard during the exhibition on the audio tour media player.
