Bequest by Jan Bouman

17 Mai 2014 biß 21 September 2014

In 2013, Jan Bouman, the Groninger art collector, died at the age of 84 years. In the last few decades, he built up a beautiful collection of modern art. Particularly strong elements in his collection are the prints by the École de Paris and by the american artist Mark Tobey. In addition, Jan Bouman also purchased work from various artists who have also had their work shown in the Groninger Museum, such as the french artist Remy Blanchard and from several Groningen contemporaries. In 2007, the Museum displayed a generous selection from this collection. Mr Bouman bequeathed his entire collection to the Groninger Museum. A small part of this is now presented in the Oval Exhibition Room West.
