Painting from the eighties from the collection of the Groninger Museum

16 October 2009 to 22 November 2009

The early eighties witnessed a large-scale renewal of interest in painting in the international art world, following a period in which attention had primarily been paid to more austere and experimental movements such as minimal art and conceptual art. At the time, the Groninger Museum acquired numerous examples of this 'new painting', which was frequently colourful, figurative, expressive and/or decorative. This exposition presented a selection of works. With works by Hervé di Rosa, Ronnie Cutrone, Combas, Milan Kunc, René Daniels, Walther Dahn, Keith Haring, Blade, Chuck Nanny and others.
