Marc Quinn. Recent Sculpture
29 April 2006 - 27 Augustus 2006
A selection of new and recent works of British artist Mark Quinn. He is noted for remarkable sculptures such as his 'frozen' self-portrait and his sculptures in marble of Paralympics contestants. The oeuvre of Marc Quinn is extremely varied. He makes sculptures, spatial installations, photographs, and paintings. His choice of material ranges from traditional materials such as bronze, glass and marble to less obvious substances such as ice, bread, blood, lead, and even DNA. The work is occasionally spectacular and provocative, whereas at other times it is reserved and touching. However, regardless of all the external variety, Quinns theme remains constant: a reflection on both the transience and the beauty of life.
