Groninger Museumnacht 2020 to go ahead in modified form; ticket sales to start on 12 August

The fourth Groninger Museumnacht – a “limited edition” – will take place on Saturday 12 September 2020. The programme has been modified in light of the coronavirus situation. It’s shaping up to be an exciting night full of art and music plus extras like private tours and a silent disco. Tickets will be available online from 12 August.

Tickets
In a departure from previous years, there will be no all-night pass. Instead, visitors will buy a separate €2.50 ticket for each museum they wish to visit. Museums will be open from 7pm to midnight. Tickets go on sale on 12 August at groningermuseumnacht.nl .

Exhibitions
As usual, alongside the special festivities, the current exhibitions will be open during Museumnacht. The Groninger Museum is hosting En toch staat de Martini: 75 Years of Liberation in Groningen, Willem Kolvoort: Posters for Vera, and the photography exhibition What Will the Neighbours Say? The University Museum, meanwhile, presents DIG-IT-ALL: Archaeology of the Future. At the Noordelijk Scheepvaartmuseum (Northern Maritime Museum) , visitors can discover the two medieval buildings, museum pieces in their own right. GRID has the exhibition VlerkWerk: 30 Years of Underground Posters . And taking part this year for the first time is StoryWorld, the new museum for comics, animation and games at Forum Groningen.

In just a few years, Museumnacht has become a highlight on Groningen’s cultural landscape. It draws a young crowd, mostly aged between 20 and 35. Many foreign students take part in the night of art, culture and conviviality every year. Groninger Museumnacht is a joint project of the Groninger Museum, the Noordelijk Scheepvaartmuseum (Northern Maritime Museum) , GRID Grafisch Museum, Storyworld and the University Museum.
