ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
New Light – De Ploeg introduces the bold versatility and experimental spirit of De Ploeg's artists during the years 1918–1930, ranging from Expressionist paintings to graphic art, applied arts, and interdisciplinary collaborations between writers, musicians and architects.
Each of the seven galleries in the De Lucchi Pavilion tells a different story of the artist society De Ploeg. From its founding and early successes to the influential meeting between Jan Wiegers and Ernst Ludwig Kirchner in Switzerland. From interdisciplinary projects via the search for abstraction and Constructivism to De Ploeg's position in museums, private collections and Groningen's artistic life after the Second World War.
