About the Van Gogh Exhibition
Do you love colorful paintings and exciting stories? Then come to the exhibition How Van Gogh Came to Groningen! Here you’ll see beautiful works by Vincent van Gogh and other famous artists, such as Jan Toorop and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.
More than 100 years ago, in 1896, six young students brought remarkable art to Groningen — something totally new at the time! People had never seen paintings like these before. This exhibition shows how that art changed Groningen and how it inspired artists from De Ploeg, a famous group of painters.
What’s on display?
- Paintings by Vincent van Gogh and other artists who dared to try something new.
- Stories about clever students and art lovers who brought this art to Groningen.
- How this art later influenced other painters, like the artists of De Ploeg.
