Met avantgardistisch elan: De Ploeg in Groningen

Containing works from among others Jan Altink (1885-1971), Jan Wiegers (1893-1959), Alida Pott (1888-1931), and Hendrik Nicolaas Werkman (1882-1945), this exhibition presented an overview of De Ploeg paintings from the collections of the Groninger Museum and Stichting De Ploeg [De Ploeg Foundation]. The art collective from Groningen elevated the landscape of Groningen to an important subject. The characteristic De Ploeg landscapes with their high horizons and never-ending paths and ditches in expressionist colours and strokes thus played a leading role. Portraits the collective’s members made of each other were on display as well.
