CHIHULY enters its last month at the Groninger Museum

Monday 8 April 2019

The stunning glass creations of the world-renowned artist Dale Chihuly will be on view for one final month at the Groninger Museum, through 5 May. The 16 installations will then return to Seattle. Extension of the exhibition is unfortunately not possible.

Within three months of its opening in December, this exceptional exhibition had already welcomed more than 100,000 visitors. CHIHULY was curated specially for the Groninger Museum and is the biggest European museum show of the artist’s work in 20 years. Reactions have been extremely positive, with visitors expressing enthusiasm and reviewers praising the glass sculptures on display. “Before his work went on show here, not many people in the Netherlands knew about Chihuly,” says Groninger Museum director Andreas Blühm. “Of course we hoped to raise the artist’s profile, but we never dreamed the exhibition would be so successful.”

Open on public and school holidays

The museum will be open during normal hours on Good Friday (19 April), Easter Sunday and Monday (21 and 22 April), and King’s Day (Saturday 27 April). It will also be open on Monday 29 April in advance of the May school holidays.
