Groningen’s architectural gem Wall House #2 opens for the season on Saturday 2 April 2022 with an exhibition by local designers Studio 212 Fahrenheit. The internationally prize-winning duo will be showing works including Sit! and L EVEN.
L EVEN
Studio 212 Fahrenheit’s L EVEN represents the relativeness of life. The duo says: “This light sculpture of breathing neon light is a constant reminder that we must make the most of our time. When you are aware of your finiteness, you are also aware of the value of life. We are vulnerable. The difference between life and death is just a breath.”
SIT!
The SIT! series consists of chairs whose designs are inspired by dogs. Each chair, with subtle design details that cause its legs to resemble paws and a different colour, size and attitude, takes on its own canine personality. The designers call the series “our reflection on the concept of ‘chair’”, adding: “People give a dog the command ‘sit’. In some way, a designer of a chair also gives the command ‘sit’ to the consumer.”
About Studio 212 Fahrenheit
Studio 212 Fahrenheit was founded by Albert Buring and Paul Mulder when they were students at the Minerva Art Academy in Groningen. Their work has evolved over the years from graphic design to spatial design and always tells a story in image or object form. Partly commissioned and partly autonomous, it walks the fine line between design and art.
Wall House #2
Wall House #2 is a unique sight on the south side of the city of Groningen. With its myriad forms, colours, interesting details, symbols and meanings, it is iconic for architecture aficionados. The exuberant house was designed in 1973 by the New York architect John Quentin Hejduk (1929–2000) but not built until 2001, beside the Hoornsemeer lake in Groningen.
The Groninger Museum has programmed events at the house since 2016 and safeguards its public function and cultural purpose. With changing exhibitions and activities, the house attracts people from the neighbourhood and elsewhere in the city as well as architecture and art enthusiasts from around the Netherlands and far beyond.

You can visit the building and the exhibition from 2 April to 30 October 2022 on every Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 to 17:00. Admission is free. Wall House #2 is located on the A.J. Lutulistraat 17 in Groningen.
